6.20.09 Betsy and Scott

What a blast! Betsy and Scott were so much fun! We had the great honor of shooting at the Grand Concourse in Station Square for their reception. We stopped on Mount Washington for some shots too! Here are some of our favs, check out the Featured Galleries at www.billkrekeweddings.com for more!

We even took a few shots on the Mon incline!

The Grand Concourse was a real lighting challenge but we really pulled out all the stops. We actually had four lights to light them and the room!

6.13.09 Victoria and Matthew

We had a great time working with Victoria and Matthew; what a great couple! Their ceremony was at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church and their reception was at Riverside Landing in Oakmont.

Here's a couple of our favs from the day. Check out the Featured Galleries section at www.billkrekeweddings.com for more!

Formal Family Pix at a Wedding: Often Overlooked but Important?

Hi All,

I will let you in on something; amongst photographers, there is a growing fear of taking formal posed family portraits at a wedding. I mean, let's face it, these are not the most fun or creative images that you will get on your wedding day! Unfortunately, for many photographers and hence, the couples who hire them, the result is often lackluster "just line 'em up" pictures of your family members at best and nothing at all at worst.

Now, many photographers claim that couples just don't care about these formal pictures anymore so they don't need to put much effort into them. However, those same photographers admit that the formal portraits are the most likely to be reordered by the couple or their families.

So, the question that I would like you, my loyal readers, to chime on is what do formal posed family portraits mean to you? What do they mean to your parents? What will they mean to your children and grandchildren?

Thanks in advance for your insights!

Bill

We're still here!

I know its been a while since I have posted anything, but things have been busy around here!

My wife, Heather, had our second daughter on April 1st 2009. Jillian Christine Kreke was born at 5:07pm, weighed 8lbs 5oz, and was 20 inches long. Mom and baby are doing just fine and Abby is thrilled with her new little sister.

We took Easter pictures of the girls a few days after we brought Jillian home. Abby was hamming it up for the camera as always. She loves to help her dad work and take pictures.

Lastly I though I would post some pictures of Abby dyeing Easter eggs. She had a blast doing it this year. She was even kissing the eggs after she dyed them.

The Slower Times' Tales Part II

The Slower Times' Tales are a showcase of what happens when I get some free time. Keep checking back to see what's happening!

I just loved the way the light was coming through the window that morning so I couldn't resist taking just a few shots of Abby eating breakfast.

The Slower Times' Tales Part I

The Slower Times' Tales are those photographic tales of what we are up to now that we have a little time! Keep checking back for more!

We were setting up some baby portraits for some friends of ours and Abby stood in to "help" me check the lighting.

The Slower Times' Tales Part III

The Slower Times' Tales. These are chronicles of anything life! I have resolved to keep a running blog of what's going on photographically in our lives now that we have some free time. Keep checking back!

We made some family portraits to showcase Heather's growing belly (our growing baby) and had a ball in the process!
